About this Service

Mulch Is Not Just Decoration

Good mulch holds moisture, regulates soil temperature, suppresses weeds, and slowly breaks down into fertilizer. Bad mulch — piled too thick, piled against the trunk, or the wrong type — actively harms plants and rots trunks.

We install mulch the way horticulture research says to: 2 to 4 inches deep across the bed, pulled back 3 inches from every trunk and stem. We carry hardwood (dark, long-lasting), cypress (mid-range, holds color), and pine bark (acid-loving plants). For commercial jobs we use bobcat delivery so a 100-yard property gets installed in a day. For residential we cart in by wheelbarrow and hand-shape every edge.

When It's Time for Fresh Mulch

If any of these sound familiar, it's probably time for a professional to walk the property.

Last mulch install was over a year ago
Color has faded to grey or washed out
Mulch has thinned — you can see bare dirt through it
Weeds are popping through easily
Soil in the beds dries out fast after watering
You're preparing for a listing or event and need instant curb appeal

Our Process, Step by Step

Same approach on every job — whether it's a single tree or a property-wide contract.

01

Measure & Quote

We measure each bed in square feet, calculate cubic yards needed, and quote by the yard installed.

02

Edge & Prep

Bed edges recut for a clean line. Old mulch raked and either topped or removed depending on depth.

03

Install to Depth

Fresh mulch installed to 2–4 inches, hand-shaped around every trunk and stem. No mulch volcanoes — ever.

04

Blow & Walk

Driveways, walkways and hardscape blown clean. Walk the property with you to confirm before we leave.

Frequently Asked

Quick answers to the questions homeowners ask us most often about this service.

What mulch is best for South Florida?

Hardwood for durability and dark color, cypress if you want the classic orange-red look, pine bark for acid-loving plants like gardenias and azaleas. We'll recommend based on your beds.

How often should mulch be replaced?

Top-off every year, full replacement every 2–3 years. Mulch breaks down into the soil — that's a feature, not a flaw.

Why is a 'mulch volcano' bad?

Mulch piled up against the trunk traps moisture against the bark, causes rot, and invites pests. It's one of the top three causes of premature tree decline in South Florida.
