About this Service

Hedge Work Done the Right Way

Regular hedge and bush trimming is the difference between a yard that looks maintained and one that looks abandoned. But it has to be done right — a badly trimmed hedge can take two full growing seasons to recover.

We work with the natural shape of each plant. Clusias, hibiscus, ficus hedges, ixora, crotons, arboricolas — each has a preferred trim style and season. We keep hedges thick and green on the outside by thinning the interior so light reaches the middle (otherwise the inside of the bush goes woody and empty). Our crew carries gas and electric hedge trimmers, hand pruners, and pole saws for the taller stuff.

When Your Bushes Need Attention

If any of these sound familiar, it's probably time for a professional to walk the property.

Hedges have gotten taller than your fence line
Interior of the bush has gone brown and bare
Ornamentals have lost their shape — sprawling or leggy
Hedges growing into windows, driveways, or A/C units
Flowering shrubs not blooming the way they used to
New growth is all on top and nothing on the sides

Our Process, Step by Step

Same approach on every job — whether it's a single tree or a property-wide contract.

01

Identify & Plan

Walk the property, ID each species, and agree on target height and shape for each bed.

02

Clean Lines

Top, sides, and front of each hedge cut to agreed height with straight, clean lines.

03

Interior Thinning

Selective hand-pruning inside the bush to keep it dense and healthy long-term.

04

Shape & Clean

Ornamentals hand-shaped. All clippings hauled off or blown into beds as mulch — your choice.

Frequently Asked

Quick answers to the questions homeowners ask us most often about this service.

How often should hedges be trimmed?

Most fast-growing hedges (ficus, clusia) want a trim every 6–8 weeks in growing season. Slower ones (podocarpus, cocoplum) every 3–4 months. We can set up a recurring schedule.

Will cutting back hard hurt the plant?

Some species bounce back from a hard cut (ficus, hibiscus). Others don't (junipers, conifers). We'll tell you before we cut — never surprise-damage a plant.

Do you do topiary and formal shapes?

Yes — geometric hedges, ball shapes on ornamentals, boxwood-style cones. Just tell us the look you want.
