Why Hialeah homeowners call Martin's Tree Solution

Hialeah lots are tight, and almost every one has palms: a coconut palm by the fence, a pair of royals at the driveway, a row of Christmas palms across the front, an areca clump against the house. Palms grow straight up, so the work is all overhead — above cars, roofs, the line to the house and the neighbor's yard — on lots with very little room to drop anything.

The most common problem we see isn't too little trimming, it's too much. A palm cut down to a few fronds at the top — the 'hurricane cut' — looks clean for a month, but it starves the palm, can narrow the trunk for good and leaves it weaker for the next storm. Proper palm trimming removes only what is dead, broken or hanging below horizontal (the 9-to-3 o'clock line), plus the seed stalks and coconuts that would otherwise fall on someone.

We're licensed and insured, we speak Spanish and English, and the quote is written on-site before we start. Call or text (786) 585-3351 — Monday to Saturday, 8:30 AM to 6 PM.

What we see on Hialeah palms

The palms we trim most in Hialeah, and what each one needs.

Coconut Palms

A coconut can fall from 30 feet or more. We take down the clusters and the dead fronds and leave the green fronds alone. Lower fronds yellowing one at a time is normal aging; yellowing in the middle of the crown, nuts dropping early or a dying spear leaf is worth having looked at, because lethal yellowing still hits coconut palms in South Florida.

Royal Palms

Royals shed their own fronds — and a royal frond can be 10 feet long and heavy enough to dent a car. Trimming a royal is mostly taking down the old fronds and seed stalks before they drop onto the driveway, not cutting green ones.

Christmas, Queen & Areca

Christmas palms need their seed clusters and dead fronds removed. Queen palms drop messy fruit and often show frizzled new fronds from nutrient deficiency, which trimming won't fix. Areca clumps get thinned so they don't swallow the window or the AC unit.

Before Hurricane Season

The best time to trim palms is before the season starts on June 1 — anything loose up there becomes a projectile in a storm. Don't strip the palm, though: the green fronds protect its heart, and over-trimmed palms are weaker in the wind.

Hialeah palm tree trimming — common questions

What Hialeah homeowners ask before booking us.

How often should palms be trimmed in Hialeah?

Most palms need trimming once or twice a year. Coconut palms that are fruiting heavily may need it more often, because nuts and dead fronds build up fast. Royal palms mostly shed on their own; they need their old fronds and seed stalks taken down before they fall.

Do you do the 'hurricane cut'?

No. Cutting a palm down to a few green fronds weakens it and can narrow the trunk permanently. We remove dead fronds, fronds hanging below horizontal, seed stalks and coconuts, and we leave the green crown.

How much does palm tree trimming cost in Hialeah?

It depends on how many palms there are, how tall they are and how easy they are to reach. We don't price palm trimming over the phone — we come out, count the palms and give you a written quote on the spot. The estimate is free.

Do you also remove palms?

Yes. Palm removal and stump grinding are part of our tree removal and stump grinding services, and we quote both at the same visit.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes — se habla español. You can do the whole job in Spanish, from the estimate to the final walk-through. Our Spanish pages start here: martinstreesolution.com/es.
